Writers at Rutgers featuring Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah

Join us on Wednesday, October 15, as we host Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, best-selling author of the short story collection Friday Black, which won the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award in 2019, and, more recently, the novel Chain-Gang All-Stars, which was a finalist for the National Book Award and on The New York Times Top Ten Books of the Year list in 2023. Adjei-Brenyah's style has been described as surrealist, but with an emphasis on the "real"; it is also darkly humorous and full of carefully observed, brilliantly rendered social interaction. The public reading and book signing will occur at 7:30 p.m. in the College Avenue Student Center. Rutgers students, faculty, and staff are also invited to attend a Q&A at 4 p.m. with the author in Murray Hall, room 302 (third floor).
