Women & Philanthropy is dedicated to empowering today’s women to make a positive impact at Rutgers and in their communities.
Women and Philanthropy inspires, encourages, and educates women towards their full potential as supporters and as volunteer leaders on behalf of Rutgers University and its constituent communities.
Through this mission, it seeks to:
- increase the representation of women throughout the Rutgers community as donors and as leaders
- broaden the university’s base of financial support by inspiring women to give to Rutgers
- engage women philanthropists in the life of the university through programmed activities
- mentor the next generation of women philanthropists
- prepare women to assume leadership roles as Rutgers volunteers
- support programs at Rutgers that reflect the varied interests of women
The Women & Philanthropy Advisory Council
The Women & Philanthropy Advisory Council offers programs for women who wish to increase their knowledge of and involvement in philanthropy and empower women to be the decision makers of their financial future.
Current Programs
The advisory council's efforts are focused on educating women on the many wonderful programs and projects at Rutgers, serving as ambassadors for the university as leaders and volunteers; and being role models to other alumnae and friends. The Women & Philanthropy Advisory Council primarily sponsors educational seminars featuring topics such as women in education, women in leadership roles, women who give and ways to give, volunteerism, and financial management.

Rutgers Alliance Women and Philanthropy Endowed Scholarship
Gifts to the Rutgers Alliance Women and Philanthropy Endowed Scholarship fund help Rutgers to provide vital assistance to deserving women based on academic merit and financial need. Each year, young women on all three Rutgers campuses ~ Camden, Newark and New Brunswick ~ are awarded Alliance scholarships.
